Merge Survival - Wasteland is an upcoming match-3 with a message about saving the planet

The match-3 genre has always been popular on mobile, with titles like Candy Crush and Pokémon Shuffle at the forefront. Neowiz has just announced Merge Survival: Wasteland, their own casual merge puzzle game, which is set to release on Android and iOS next month.

Merge Survival: Wasteland offers the classic match-3 action but with an exciting new twist. Players take on the role of the survivor Eden, whose goal is to save the Earth from being destroyed thanks to environmental degradation. While being a casual title to play in your pastime, it also carries an important message.

Where the gameplay model slightly differs is in the merging. It takes a page out of games like Little Alchemy as merging two objects will create something entirely new. There’s a lot to learn while saving the world around you.

The game takes place on a devastated Earth, where only a few survivors remain as they struggle to exist. Players will learn of their immersive survival stories as they progress through the game. At face value, Merge Survival: Wasteland just seems like another run-of-the-mill match-3 game, but it’s actually much more thanks to the vital message they’re trying to push.

Throughout the game players will be educated about the importance of protecting the environment from harm. Expect to learn the workings of recycling and upcycling while matching-3s, creating new objects, and clearing levels.
