Ashfall unveils new trailer to coincide with July beta test announcement

Following its unveiling last year, NetEase has revealed that Ashfall will host a beta test in July, with pre-registration open now. Alongside the announcement, the developers have also released a new gameplay overview trailer, which you can check out below.

If you're unfamiliar with Ashfall, it's an MMO that will feature cross-play functionality across PC and mobile. Drawing inspiration from games like Fallout, it takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland devastated by an event referred to as the great calamity.

You play as a Wanderer tasked with searching for a mysterious object called the Core of Creation. As the name somewhat implies, it can supposedly save humanity from its impending demise. The game plays out from a third-person perspective and will put your shooting skills to the test as you deal with the hostility that's rife across the wastes.

The latest trailer looks to highlight some of the beasties you'll battle against as you search for the Core of Creation. It also shows off the various locales you can visit and NPCs you'll interact with throughout your journey. The visuals look pretty impressive, although I'm an easy mark for anything that uses a similar aesthetic to Fallout.

NetEase claims that Ashfall isn't just a pretty face, either. It boasts music composed by none other than the legendary Hans Zimmer. This was an aspect the team highlighted during today's NetEase Connect 2023 live stream. They hope to utilise the emotions a great soundtrack can stir within a player to help Ashfall become a memorable experience.

Ashfall will launch on the App Store, Google Play, and Steam sometime in the future. Before then, the developers are hosting a beta test, so if you're interested in taking part, head over to the game's official website to pre-register for a chance to get involved.
