Tokyo Revengers Puzzle - National Domination, a brand new match-3 puzzler based on the anime series, opens pre-registration in Japan
Japanese developer Goodroid has announced that their upcoming puzzle mobile game Tokyo Revengers Puzzle - Road to National Domination, based on the popular anime/manga franchise of the same name, has opened up pre-registrations for both iOS and Android users within Japan.
Tokyo Revengers Puzzle is a lighter take on what is a pretty darn dark series, and mostly includes players building up a team of characters from the series itself, who will then do battle against antagonists from the series. For comparison’s sake, think of something like Puzzle and Dragons and you’re pretty close.
That of course means that this is a match-3 puzzler, and will include you matching up three icons of the same colour on a board, which will then do that type of damage to the foe you’re up against. The characters in your party also each correlate with one of these types of damage, and will be used for said damage upon matching up those colours. This is a fairly standard type of match-3 puzzle RPG combat, so I’m sure you’ve seen it in similar games.
It’s also a rather interesting direction to adapt such a series using this format, as Tokyo Revengers is a pretty in-depth story that revolves around a lot of violence and hardcore action, mostly among teens acting as gang members. Luckily for the kids, this adaptation is way more relaxed and laid-back, featuring chibi versions of each of your favourite characters and easy-to-understand gameplay.
As for what content will be available upon launch, it’s relatively unknown currently, but I’d imagine we’ll see the typical stuff featured in something like the aforementioned Puzzles and Dragons, with boss dungeons, material farming stages, and likely even some social systems somewhere in there.
