Pokemon Go's linking feature with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet brings Gimmighoul and Gholdengo into the fray

Last year, as the hype for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was building up, Niantic and The Pokémon Company teamed up to bring Gimmighoul to Pokémon Go. The Coin Chest Pokémon from the Paldea region was introduced to the AR game to set up linking capabilities between the two games.

That day is here, and trainers will finally be able to add Gimmighoul to their team as linking between Pokémon Go and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now live. Players can send postcards from the mobile game to the Nintendo Switch title in order to gain opportunities to encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul and gather Gimmighoul Coins.

When players send a postcard to either Scarlet or Violet, they will get a Coin Bag created by Professor Willow. Gimmighoul loves the sight and sound of shiny coins and will quickly come running towards it. Postcards can only be sent once per day, with the ability to reset at midnight.

As trainers repeat this process of sending postcards and catching Pokémon, the ultimate goal should be to collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins. Once this is done, they can evolve Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo. Coins can be earnt by catching the Pokémon and roaming around with it as your buddy.

A slightly simpler way to collect Coins is by using a Golden Lure Module. This can be obtained by sending multiple postcards. The module turns any regular PokéStop into a Golden PokéStop. It also offers greater rewards than regular PokéStops and a rare chance of encountering a Gimmighoul itself.

There’s also a tiny chance that some PokéStops may turn into Golden ones without any Lure Modules, so be on the lookout! Don’t forget to visit the in-game shop for new Roaming Form Gimmighoul-inspired avatar items. Plus, there’s a bunch of themed stickers to collect too.
