Hanasaki Hoverboard, a brand new narrative-focused runner game, launches onto Android

Fresh from a two-man indie team, Italo and Yesenia, a brand new take on the runner genre inspired by real-life experiences has launched onto Android. Hanasaki Hoverboard sees you take on the role of the protagonist Hana - who is struggling with feeling fulfilled - taking on boring jobs that dull her love for art until she comes across a unique hoverboard that fills her life with adventure.

While the runner genre is usually topped by time-killing endless runners like Temple Run or Subway Surfers, Hanasaki Hoverboard hopes beyond anything to introduce a more narrative-driven version of those gameplay loops, putting you into Hana’s shoes as she tries to collect certain objects within every stage that will further the story and her life too.

Every level takes place within a cyberpunk city full of adventure and mystery, and as you progress, you’re sure to uncover bits of the lore of the city itself as well as Hana. However, as is life, while this new place you travel within is ripe with opportunity, it’s equally full of potential pitfalls, and you’ll experience both as you progress throughout Hansaki Hoverboard.

Gameplay-wise, you’ll know what to expect if you’ve played an endless runner like those discussed above. There are three lanes, and each will have incoming obstacles as you bounce between each to dodge said obstacles and keep moving forward.

As for what you’re looking to collect within this gameplay loop, you’re looking for specific items within each level, collectables that will further the story for you. If you can manage to grab those and complete each level, you’ll progress through the game and find out more about this odd world and the character you play.
